Science Education Foundation established the Aspire Science Higher Secondary School, a self-financed higher secondary school, on 28.5.2011 vide its resolution dated 22.5.2011. It is permitted by Director of Higher Secondary Education, Government of Odisha and Affiliated to the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha.
It was further resolved that teachers posted in the Aspire Science Higher Secondary School will be responsible for academic and administrative activities of the school as well as the Institute of Science Education, the remedial coaching centre supported by the Foundation.
Salary and Increment
Associate Professor
Teachers with experience of 15 years of teaching of +2 Science and 10 years of entrance teaching will be designated as Associate Professor provided s/he has served at least 13 years in Aspire Science Higher Secondary School.
Monthly Salary: Rs.50,000.
Annual Increment: Rs.3,000 after annual review
Senior Assistant Professor
Teachers with experience of 10 years of teaching of +2 Science and 7 years of entrance teaching will be designated as Senior Assistant Professor provided s/he has served at least 8 years in Aspire Science Higher Secondary School.
Monthly Salary: Rs.35,000.
Annual Increment: Rs.2,000 after annual review
Assistant Professor
Persons entering the teaching profession in the school with 3 years of +2 teaching and 1 year of entrance teaching shall be designated as Assistant Professor.
Monthly Salary: Rs.25,000.
Annual Increment: Rs.1,500 after annual review
Teacher in Internship
Persons entering the teaching profession in the school without any teaching experience after M.Sc./M.A. shall be designated as Teacher in Internship.
Monthly Salary: Rs.15,000.
Bimonthly Increment: Rs.1,000 after bimonthly review, until the Salary is Rs.22,000. After that s/he will be entitled to get Rs. 1,000 as annual increment.
Guest Faculty
Well experienced teachers may be given classes to teach as guest teachers.
Hourly Remuneration: Rs.400
Conveyance Allowance: Rs.100 per day of travel to the school.
Allowances
1. Holiday Work Allowance: If a teacher is asked to work on a holiday, he will be allowed to take an extra day of casual leave. However, if a parent meeting is scheduled on a holiday/Sunday, that day will be treated as working day and absence on that day shall be treated as leave without pay. All celebration days like, Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Saraswati Puja and Ganesh Puja are working days. Absence on these days is treated as leave without pay.
2. Conveyance Allowance: Rs.50 per day of travel to the school.
Increments
Annual increment shall be declared by the Board of Trustees in the month of July and will be payble from the July month's salary
Casual Leave
Total casual leave granted to a teacher shall not exceed 15 days in a calendar year. When one is absent from duty continuously for more than 10 days, which may include holidays, vacation and casual leaves, all will be treated as casual leaves. If someone takes a leave without prior intimation or arrangement for classes, that day shall be treated as leave without pay.
Security Deposit
An amount of Rs.50,000/- will be collected from each teacher as security deposit. It will be collected from a teacher @ 10% of salary or as decided by the authority. The security deposit will be refunded to the teacher when he/she leaves the job as per the rule without any interest [see the section “Resignation from the job / termination of the job”]
Resignation from the job / termination of the job
- A teacher is not allowed to resign from the job in the mid-session. If one wants to resign, he/she can do so by applying on or before 1st May of each year. Under this circumstance he/she will be relieved of his/her duty on 31st May by refunding the security deposit collected from him/her.
- If one resigns any other time of the year, either he/she will not be relieved or relieved by forfeiting the security deposits.
- A teacher may be terminated if he/she is found to be engaged in an immoral/unethical activity or any anti-college/anti-foundation activity. In such condition the unpaid accrued salary and security deposit will be forfeited without any consideration.
- A teacher may also be terminated if his/her academic performance is declining. He/she will be given warning, suggestions, advice and scope for improvement. If he/she fails to improve then his/her job may be terminated. In this case if it is felt that the teacher has some mala fide intention his/her security deposit will be forfeited else it will be refunded.
Job Description and Workload
The workload of the teachers in full employment is 48 hours a week. The average split of time will be tentatively as follows (per week) until further modification.
- Direct teaching-learning process(DTLP): 24 hours
- Personal Assistance to students: 6 hours
- Practical / Co- and Extra-curricular Activities / Skill development programme : 8 hours
- Examination process / Assignment system / Administrative responsibilities : 8 hours
- Students’ progress evaluation by Teachers' Council: 2 hours
- If an Assistant Professor’s DTLP workload exceeds 96 hours a month, extra remuneration @300/- per extra hour will be given.
- If a Senior Assistant Professor’s/Associate Professor’s DTLP workload exceeds 85 hours a month, extra remuneration @400/- per extra hour will be given.
Working hours
- The standard working hours of the school is as follows which may be modified as per requirement.
- Morning session: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Lunch break: 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm
- Afternoon session: 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
- Snacks break: 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm
- Evening session: 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm
- A teacher has to stay during the morning session and afternoon session in all weekdays.
- A teacher has to stay in the evening session in 2 week days in addition to morning and afternoon session as per the time table that will change from time to time.
- Late arrival or early departure is treated as half day casual leave.
